The Intel Xeon Platinum 8356H is the frequency specialist of the Cooper Lake family, a 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable processor built for four and eight socket servers on the Cedar Island platform. It runs 8 cores and 16 threads at a 3.90GHz base clock with 4.40GHz max turbo, the highest base clock in the family, and pairs the full 35.75MB of L3 cache with just 8 cores. That combination targets per core licensed databases and latency sensitive workloads where fewer, faster cores with maximum cache win. Cooper Lake brought bfloat16 support to Intel DL Boost.

Compatible with: four and eight socket Cedar Island platforms with Socket P+ (LGA4189) that accept 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Cooper Lake processors. Cooper Lake and Ice Lake are not interchangeable: the two families share a pin count but use different sockets and platforms. Mainstream dual socket Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant servers do not support this processor family. Confirm platform support and chassis cooling for the 190W TDP before installation.
