It occupies a standard PCIe 3.0 x8 expansion slot and provides eight internal SAS lanes across two x4 mini SAS ports. As an essential class controller it carries no flash backed write cache and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 plus Mixed Mode HBA pass-through. The plug-in (dash p) design is the choice when the server flexible slot is already occupied or unavailable, unlike the modular E208i-a listed separately.
